Made of Air transforms wood waste to into carbon-negative compounds and panels to replace materials such as fossil-based plastics and aluminium. These materials lock in more carbon in their production than they release. Made of Air uses waste sawdust or woodchips, which would usually release the CO2 sequestered by the trees back into the environment, to produce biochar. Biochar is a pyrolyzed biomass with a high carbon content traditionally used as a soil fertilizer.

evoZero®, the carbon captured net-zero cement by Heidelberg Materials
28 November 2023
Heidelberg Materials has introduced evoZero®, a cement that achieves its net-zero footprint by the application of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology at their plant in Brevik, Norway, without compensation from credit outside its value chain. Once operational the plant will capture and store 400,000 tonnes of CO2 per year (50% of the plant's emissions). Blockchain technology is used to ensure that customers can verify that their supply is net-zero. The chemical composition of the cement and performance is unaffected.
